Douglas County Yard Sales ("we," "us," or "our") is a free service operated by Major Design and Solutions that helps people in and around Douglas County, Missouri find and post local yard, garage, estate, and moving sales. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

When you sign up for weekend alerts. We ask for your first name, email address, mobile phone number, and ZIP code, along with a record of your consent (the date and time you opted in, the channels you agreed to, and the exact consent language shown to you). This consent record is kept to document your opt-in as required by law.

When you post a sale. We collect the details of your listing (title, address, dates, hours, categories, description, and any photos you upload) and the contact information you provide. Your contact information is private. It is used only so we can follow up with you about your listing, and it is never shown publicly.

Automatically. We collect basic technical information such as your device type and browser, and we store your saved route ("My Route") in your browser's local storage so the route planner works. We do not use this information to identify you personally.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to: show current and upcoming sales on the public map and list; send you the weekend sale alerts you asked for by text or email; contact you about a sale you posted, if needed; and operate, maintain, and improve the service.

Text message (SMS) program

If you opt in to text alerts, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Douglas County Yard Sales about yard sales near you. Message frequency varies (about one message per week). Message and data rates may apply. You can cancel at any time by replying STOP, and you can get help by replying HELP. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We do not sell or share your mobile number or opt-in information with third parties for marketing.

Email

If you sign up for email alerts, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send you.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the service:

• Service providers. We use trusted providers to operate the service, including our customer-messaging and database platform, which stores your contact record and sends alerts on our behalf, and mapping services used to convert addresses to map locations and to plan routes. These providers may process your information only to provide their service to us.
• Public sale listings. The sale details you post (not your private contact information) are shown publicly on the map and list.
• Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users and others.

Your choices

• Stop text alerts any time by replying STOP to any message.
• Unsubscribe from emails any time via the link in any email.
• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information by emailing us at hello@majordands.com.

Data retention and security

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet our legal obligations (including keeping consent records). We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children

This service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date.
